  1. Welcome to the Classic Collection

  3. A 2 CD collection of the best PD programmes written for the Amiga over the 
  4. last six or seven years. Brought to you by "Classic-Amiga" of Manchester. UK

  6. What is PD Software?
  7. -------------------
  8. Well, basically, an Amiga programmer writes a programme and offers it to the
  9. Amiga community for free. This is known as freeware.
  10. Some programmers offer a cut-down version for you to try. If you like it
  11. you then pay the author a small fee to reward him for his efforts and in
  12. return you get the full programme. This is known as shareware. Both freeware
  13. and shareware programmes are part of the Classic Collection.

  15. If its free, why am I paying for it?

  17. The programmes on the CD's are free. What you are paying for is the cost of
  18. obtaining the programmes, compilation, duplication, advertising and packaging.
  19. This works out at around 1 penny per programme. Pretty good value, yes!

  21. OK, 2000 disks to play with, how do I get at them?
  22. -------------------------------------------------
  23. As most of the disks are self booting, the Amiga way of preserving this is
  24. by the use of DMS compression. Its an Amiga thing. What you have to do is
  25. un-DMS to a floppy disk. Pretty straightforward if you have the DMS programme.
